Grand World Phu Quoc : Honest Reviews and Tourist Information
Last Updated on 2024/07/04 by Seo
What is Phu Quoc Grand World?
Grand World Phu Quoc is a vast entertainment complex spanning approximately 250,000 square meters, featuring buildings and canals inspired by Venice, Italy. It includes restaurants, shops, spas, and performance venues.
Located in the northern part of Phu Quoc, it connects with Vinpearl Safari and VinWonders. The complex is divided into four themed areas: Venice, Shanghai, Indochina, and Maracaibo, each designed to resemble its namesake city.
The central area, closest to the main entrance, is the Venice section. Here, you’ll find water taxis, the iconic “Bamboo House,” a Vietnamese cultural performance venue, and the Teddy Bear Museum.

Is Phu Quoc Grand World Worth Visiting?
Phu Quoc Grand World offers a stark contrast between day and night, with a completely different atmosphere depending on when you visit.
Visiting Phu Quoc Grand World During the Day
There is really only one reason to visit Grand World during the day: to take beautiful photos for Instagram and other social media. Other than that, there’s not much to see or do.
Most shops are closed, the weather is extremely hot, and the area feels deserted. There are a few small performances, but they attract almost no audience.
You can experience the water taxis or visit the Teddy Bear Museum, but these alone don’t justify a daytime visit.
Visiting Phu Quoc Grand World at Night
At night, Grand World transforms into a lively tourist destination.
People start gathering at the beachside “Quảng trường biển” to watch the sunset. As the sun sets and the lights come on, the shops open, and Grand World truly comes to life.
Colorful water taxis glide along the canals, and the cooler evening air makes it pleasant to sit by the river with a beer. Check out the video below to see the nighttime fountain show!

The Essence of Vietnam
This performance showcases traditional Vietnamese culture with a modern twist. Before the main show starts, you can enjoy nine mini-performances for free, each lasting about 15 minutes, from 8:30 AM to 5:45 PM.
Free Mini-Performance Schedule: Essence of Vietnam
- Morning: 8:30 AM – 11:30 AM
- Afternoon: 3:00 PM – 5:45 PM
There are breaks of about 15 to 30 minutes between performances, but the shows continue throughout the day, so you can visit anytime and catch a performance.
The main show starts at 8:15 PM and lasts for 45 minutes, ending at 9:00 PM. You need to purchase a separate ticket for the main show.
The main show is divided into four parts and uses spectacular lighting and 3D projections to depict the origins, daily life, and festivals of the Vietnamese people.
Considering the price of 300,000 VND (about 15,000 KRW), it’s a decent show, but not something you’ll regret missing.
Tips for Watching Essence of Vietnam
- Since it’s held outdoors, the show will be canceled if it rains, and tickets will be refunded.
- Entry is allowed from 7:30 PM, 45 minutes before the show starts. Arrive early to get good seats.
- The middle tier offers a better view than the lower tier.

This 15-meter-tall structure made of 42,000 bamboo pieces serves as a landmark in Grand World.
The interior is dome-shaped, resembling a lotus flower, Vietnam’s national flower. There’s not much to see or explain inside or outside the structure.

Phu Quoc Grand World Fountain Show
This is the main event at Grand World. It starts at 9:30 PM and lasts for about 30 minutes, taking place in the river that runs through the center of Grand World.
There are no designated seats for the show. You can watch it standing around or from the seating areas of nearby restaurants or bars.
Phu Quoc Grand World Mart
There are a few marts in Grand World, but they are more like convenience stores. You might visit to buy bottled water, but there’s no other reason to go.
Instead of wasting time at the Grand World marts, I recommend visiting the proper Phu Quoc King Kong Mart.

From the parking lot, you can take a free mini-cart tour of Grand World. The tour is conducted only in Vietnamese and just gives a quick overview of the area, so it’s not really necessary to take it.
The advantage is that you can get off at various stops to quickly access your desired locations.
Phu Quoc Grand World Review
The biggest issue with Grand World is that you have to travel back to the northern part of Phu Quoc at night just for this one attraction.
If your accommodation is nearby, it’s fine, but most people stay in Duong Dong city for convenience, as there is no public transportation in Phu Quoc.

To save on transportation costs, you need to follow the shuttle bus schedule. Personally, I don’t think it’s worth paying to visit just for Grand World.
If you have plenty of time in Phu Quoc and have already visited other attractions, you can check it out at night when there’s nothing else to do. It’s not a must-see place if you’re on a tight schedule.
Grand World mostly looks like a typical underdeveloped tourist area in Vietnam, with many vacant spaces. I would estimate that over 70% of it is empty. There’s really nothing there.
Most buildings are like mixed-use buildings in Korea, with the first floor as commercial space and the upper floors as accommodations. But since there are no tourists, they are mostly empty.
