Where to Stay in Nha Trang: 3 Areas and Who Each One Suits

Updated:

Nha Trang has grown into one of Vietnam’s most popular beach destinations, with hotels and resorts spread across more than seven beaches. The city has an unusual mix of large international resorts and a lively local urban core — but the areas feel very different from each other. Picking the wrong location can make a real difference to how your trip feels.

This guide covers the three main areas where most travellers stay in Nha Trang, based on the district breakdown used by Agoda — which has the most detailed neighbourhood filters for the city. Each area suits a different travel style.

How Nha Trang Is Divided

Most of the city’s hotels, restaurants, and attractions run along Tran Phu road, which follows the main beach from south to north. The three areas below cover the central strip, the quieter northern coast, and the resort zone south of the airport.

1. Loc Tho — City Centre

Loc Tho is the core of Nha Trang’s tourist area and the safest choice if you are unsure where to stay. It sits along Tran Phu road, with a dense concentration of hotels at every price point — from $10-a-night guesthouses in the back lanes to five-star beachfront hotels on the main strip.

The closer to the beach, the higher the price. But even hotels a few lanes back are within a 5–10 minute walk of the sand. What you are mostly paying for is the sea view and the on-site facilities.

The night market, Nha Trang Cathedral, and most of the popular restaurants and bars are all here. This area makes the most sense if you want convenience, a range of dining options, and easy access to the beach without planning your day around transport.

2. Vinh Phuoc — Quieter, Better Value

Head north along Tran Phu past the bridge and you reach Hon Chong promontory, the landmark that anchors the Vinh Phuoc area. Hon Chong beach here is noticeably calmer than the main city beach — fewer tourists, more locals, and on clear days the water is good for swimming.

Hotels in this area tend to offer better sea views for the price than equivalent options in the city centre. There are no big shopping malls or clubs nearby, but the basics — convenience stores, small cafes, local restaurants — are all covered.

The main trade-off is distance. Vinh Phuoc is about 3.5–4km from the city centre, so getting in and out means taking a Grab or taxi each time. The fares are cheap, but it adds up if you are moving around a lot. This area works well for travellers who want a quieter base with decent sea views and are happy to ride into the centre when needed.

3. Cam Hai Dong — Resort Zone

Between Cam Ranh International Airport and Nha Trang city, a stretch of coastline called Bai Dai (Long Beach) runs for more than 15km. This is where Nha Trang’s high-end resort properties are concentrated — large complexes with private beaches, white sand, and calm water.

The area is built around staying in rather than going out. If the plan is to spend most of your time at the pool or on a private beach, this is the right choice. It is also very convenient for late arrivals or early departures, given its proximity to the airport.

Getting to the city centre takes 30–40 minutes by car. Most resorts run shuttle services, but schedules, routes, and whether they are free or paid vary by property — worth confirming before you book. If daily trips into the city are part of your plan, the logistics from here can become a friction point.
