About Phu Quoc Airport
Phu Quoc Airport serves as the gateway to Phu Quoc Island and is located about 10 kilometers from the center of Duong Dong City.
Its official name is Phu Quoc International Airport, and it uses the airport code PQC.
The old airport, built during Vietnam’s colonial period under French rule, was closed, and the new airport was constructed in 2012. It does not have separate terminals for domestic and international flights.

Phu Quoc Airport Lounges
For domestic flights within Vietnam, there is a CIP lounge. However, as of April 2023, it is not in operation.
How to Get to the City from Phu Quoc Airport
Since Phu Quoc has almost no public transportation, you can only get around the city by taxi or Grab.
Before COVID-19, there were the No. 11 airport bus and shuttle buses, but as of April 2023, these buses are still not operating.
The downtown area of Phu Quoc referred to in this article is based on the Duong Dong area.

Grab
Grab is likely the most used transportation method in Phu Quoc, so it’s highly recommended to install the Grab app before you go.

Using Grab from Phu Quoc Airport is not difficult, but here are detailed instructions on how to do it.
Grab vehicles cannot park right in front of the airport where taxis pass by, so they usually wait in the parking lot.
Therefore, Grab drivers pick up passengers from the parking lot, so it’s more convenient to call a Grab from there.
Once the driver and passenger confirm each other’s location, the driver will drive over from the parking lot, so just wait at the parking lot entrance.
Taxi
Taking a taxi from Phu Quoc Airport to downtown is simple.
Since Vietnam’s airports are known for fake taxis, always request a taxi through a Mai Linh employee.
There’s no need to say much to the employee. Just approach the Mai Linh booth, and the employee will ask if you need a taxi.
Simply answer “Yes” and show them the hotel address!
They will call a taxi for you and inform the driver of your destination.
Airport Pickup Service
If you have a large group or cannot use a taxi or Grab for some reason, you can request an airport pickup service.
When traveling in Phu Quoc, you can usually book a vehicle through the following pickup services:

Almost all hotels in Phu Quoc offer pickup services regardless of their star rating. The hotel pickup service is usually punctual, and if any issues arise, you can contact the hotel to resolve them.
Klook is the world’s number one site for booking tours and pickup services globally.
Previously, you had to visit a tour company or use local pickup sites in Vietnam to book tours or pickups.
However, now many Vietnamese tour companies and local pickup sites sell their services on Klook, so there’s no need to use Vietnamese websites anymore.
The price varies depending on the type of vehicle you request, so it’s recommended to compare prices between the hotel and Klook and choose the cheaper option.
